Research and development
Woodpolis together with its partners, supports the woodworking industry by developing new innovations in the area of wood construction. Woodpolis partner network includes private companies, educational institutes and universities, e.g. Aalto University in Finland.
Product development is based on the high level of know-how of companies in the Kainuu region, their reliability, as well as the high quality of wooden raw material.
In our product development we utilize our modern machines and CAD/CAM engineering programs and we take benefit of our participation in several areal wood construction projects, including the Honkasuo ecological village in Helsinki and wooden blockhouses of Rauman Papinpelto in the city of Rauma.
In 2013 we launched a project to develop the construction of wooden blockhouses.
Woodpolis develops and provides training in construction of wooden houses.
We have organized a wide range of training courses for the companies and other operators in the woodworking industry, particularly coming from Eastern Finland and the Kainuu region.
Together with Kainuu Vocational College we launched a project in 2013 to increase the skills and knowledge in wooden element manufacturing and construction of wooden blockhouses. RunkoPES Timber Construction System and CLT in Education -project started in September 2015 and it aims to ensure the availability of skilled workforce for construction and timber product companies.
Woodpolis has a modern woodworking machinery, equipment and software (CAD/CAM) for the use of companies and educational institutions in their training and product development. Woodpolis also offers rental of manufacturing facilities and provides subcontracting services.
Training factory offers a lot of opportunities for well established companies as well as for companies in their start-up phase.
Our new CNC machine center allows processing of straight and curved laminated beams and cross laminated wooden elements (CLT) up to 12 meters.
