Woodpolis has a modern wood working machine-, device- and software environment (CAD/CAM), which can be utilized by companies and schools to education and product development purposes. We offer also subcontracting and machine rental services. Training factory offers lots of possibilities to companies which are either enhancing their operations or starting their own business.

Training factory progresses

The possibilities of Woodpolis to offer education and product development enhance with Woodpolis-Inno -project. An automatic machining centre is being acquired and finger joint line is being automated. We also improve our blade maintenance services.

The new machining centre enables machining of even 12 meters long straight and curved glulam beams and cross-laminated wooden elements. The working area of the machining centre is 3,2 x 12 meters, so that it can be used to machine big and many-shaped pieces, for example wooden structures to apartment buildings and other big contructions.

The purchases are done by the funding of Woodpolis-Inno -project. The execution time of Woodpolis-Inno -project is 1.4.2008 - 30.6.2012 and it is funded by European Regional Development Fund, Joint Authority of Kainuu Region, 13 companies and the city of Kuhmo.

Optimizing cutting saw Dimter Opticut S90 XL

One part of finger joint line is optimizing cutting saw Dimter Opticut S90 XL. Sawing takes place either by a ready cutting list or by chalk markings automatically to desired length (+/- 0,5 mm). The machine can saw dimensions starting from 15x40 mm to even 125x300 mm.

Automatic machining centre Uniteam EXTRA BM3

Extra BM3 is numerically controlled multi-axis machining centre, which has machining area of 3200 x 12000 mm and machining strength 350 mm. The machine can be used to machine straight or curved wood beams and also plate kinds of products (such as CLT-plate). The machine enables manufacturing different big structures (bridges, hall and apartment building structures). Minimum dimension is 250x300x2000 mm. Machining may include for example holes, oblique end cuts, curved shapes, oblique and straight drillings, dovetails, end machinings or evening out beam surfaces. The machine has 1+4+8 seated tool changer, which enables versatile machinings without interruptions.

Current machinery

Automatic structural timber machining centre Hundegger K2 Hundegger K2 manufactures almost every joint and their machining, profiling and decorations needed in wood construction, prefabricated house constuction and log house construction. The machine makes log house profiles, T-profiles and roung logs without resetting. The blade positions of the machine make joints multiaxially combined with simultaneous longitudinal motion of the machined wood. Hundegger K2 is applicable for 20 x 50 mm - 300 x 450 mm cross-cuttings and even 12 meters long pieces. Accuracy of machining +/- 2/10 mm.

Finger joint line Spanevello LGC 300 Compact Basic Flat With Spanevello LGC 300 you can extend all dimensions between 100 x 32 mm - 225 x 125 mm. Length of the pieces can be between 1000 - 12000 mm. The machine makes fingers to wood pieces with one horizontal motion and the fingers are glued in the meantime. After this the pieces are joint together and cut to desired lengths according to cutting list. It is possible to make short timber into long and simultaneously improve the quality of timber by removing defects. The machine uses polyuretane glue.

Planing line Weinig Powermat 1000 Seven blade units, PowerCom-control and PowerLock-blade technology. Because of short set time the machine is applicable for manufacturing very short special series. The processing width of the planer is 20 - 230 mm (even 285 mm) and processing thickness 8 - 160 mm (blade diameter 93 - 125 mm). OptiControl -measuring system enables accurate and efficient numeric draft and speeds up the change of the draft considerably.

Profile blade machine Rondamat 960 With profile blade machine you can sharpen both straigth and shape blades, and manufacture different shape blades.

INCOMAC timber kilns, model ICD JUNIOR / 10 Water heated warm air kiln, where drying process is started and controlled by a computer. Drying pattern can be entered from the memory of the computer or quickly from keyboard. The progress of drying process can be followed from the computer and it can be altered during the process if needed.

Industry robot IRB 140 The robot can handle loads up to 5 kg and its reach is 810 mm. Repeatibility accuracy is even 0,03 mm (according to ISO-test). Robot has been placed to a movable base, so moving the robot from one education place to another is easy.

Triangle press STROMAB ST-2500 The triangle press has eight pressing units in each side, units sideways and pressing bridges can be adjusted in vertical direction. There are four upper pressing units, which work by compressed air, in each side. Hand rotation, locking the triangle with a foot pedal.

Wide strip sander SCM SANDYA 5 RCS Modern wide strip sander machines pieces even 1100 mm wide and its machining height can be chosen between 3 - 170 mm. Strip tightening mechanism, which works by compressed air, prevents cone shape sanding belt. The stationary device of the table is automatic and equipped with selection swith of the applications. Because of flexible bridge it is easy to sand also soft wood species. Feeding mat has been equipped with vacuum, which makes sure even small pieces stay in their place.
